(Remember that Virginia Beach requires children under 14 to wear bike helmets, and bring some along or rent them when you rent the bikes.) The Oceana Naval Air Station lets kids look at our nation's most sophisticated jet planes, such as the Navy's F-14 and F/A-18's, or watch them soar overhead. Ninety hands-on exhibits await at the Children's Museum of Virginia, and the Virginia Beach Convention Center offers a "Youth Enrichment" program all summer.

Even winter has something to offer to children in Virginia Beach, including Holiday Lights at the Beach and a Christmas program at the Founders Inn throughout December. Family packages are available through almost all major hotels, so consider Virginia Beach as a family destination this year.
